In the World of Perfection

Every now and then my mother and father would check my grades through Powerschool. They would tell me “what is this?” “What happened?” or “Are you into something else again?” Students are being tormented through all the homework, projects and tests. I hear how their parents got annoyed and mad at a B on their test. I hear students frustrated at a quiz that has a mark of a C. I hear students who will aim at a GPA of 4.5 or higher by taking AP’s after AP’s. I hear students suffering from the pressures from parents. KIS students, specifically, are being crammed into the idea of perfections therefore parents should stop pressuring students for perfect grades and perfections.
Students who take few AP’s plus the honor classes are not normal. Even though in KIS standard, having to have a perfect education life, these kind of students are just normal, it really isn’t! These students slowly shorten their sleeps to polish every single homework. And sleeping less and less until you have only a few hours to sleep for a night is not good, extremely not good. Though one might study for an exam for two whole night without sleeping, this one will not able to show what what he or she is really capable in the exam. For a better life, please sleep! Getting a B or a C on a homework or a project is not the end of your career life! Therefore through parents pressures from behind our backs are not letting students sleep.
What is a difference between a Korean fine and a State fine? Yes, Korean fines are A’s and State fines are C’s. Everything above C’s are considered as a “good job” in the states. I heard a new teacher from the states say, “you did just fine” when giving out the test back, and the student would basically get shocked. Perhaps a B for the KIS student was not a “fine” grade. Will this kinds of students be able to successfully launch into the society? Not knowing the works you have done as an adult could result a devastating work, will these student not get a heart attack? Parents should stop trying to make students into the world of Perfectness, because there isn’t any.
Maybe trying to get a perfect GPA is not only making the students hard on themselves, but the parents, too. You see people getting tutors during school years and breaks. Students are consistently taking SAT hagwons, which cost a few million wons. Having hard time at school, I tried to take a hagwon that would help me in homework and projects and take free lectures within the hagwon, but never-mind when I heard how much it costs: ten million won for just several month. Will it not be an impossible job for the students, the parents will have hard times paying tutors and hagwons.
Parents should stop pressuring the students to get perfect A’s an higher GPA of 4. The students are getting tired and burned out by the time they reach their college. Will the money be a problem for parents, students will feel tired anytime.
